Operation Recon Nature - Hike Series

Forest hikes have been proven by Japanese researchers to strengthen our immune system, aid memory and learning, increase energy, lower blood pressure and reduce stress. Other studies show that time spent outdoors in colder months boosts Vitamin D levels and brings feelings of relaxation and heightened well-being. Even 20 minutes spent in the forest can help produce positive changes in your body. Exercising outdoors is better for our health than exercising indoors.

All Veterans from all branches of service - Active Duty, Reserve, and Retired personnel and their families are invited to attend monthly hikes held here at Wehr Nature Center. For approximately one to one and a half hours, we will take fun experiential hikes on the trails of Wehr Nature Center to stretch our legs and observe seasonal nature happenings.

Please register on our website so we can prepare for the hikes. Contact Holly W. with questions at holly.walz@milwaukeecountywi.gov
