Annual Friends of Wehr memberships (January - December) support a beautiful nature destination and provide other perks: Free parking, early registration for Halloween Haunts, free Cider Sunday admission, discounts on selected programs, 10% discount on nature store purchases, and more!

Members Make a Difference

The Friends of Wehr is dedicated to the support and promotion of the Wehr Nature Center and its environmental education programs. Over 2,000 members help us provide financial support of every aspect of the Wehr Nature Center. Our organization supports educational programming that reaches over 75,000 people from the Milwaukee Metro area region each year, including school children whose field trips are sponsored through our Kids in the Park fund.

*Membership Level Descriptions:

  • Individual: one person
  • Family: one or two adults living at one address with or without minor children
  • Senior (age 65+) or Veteran: one or two adults living at one address; these levels can also include minor children or grandchildren, but not adult children or grandchildren
  • Supporting, Sustaining, Benefactor: (can be Individual, Family, Veteran, or Senior as described above)

Extra benefits:

Supporting membership: 2 parking passes and 2 guest passes

Sustaining: 2 parking passes and 4 guest passes

Benefactor: 2 parking passes and 6 guest passes


  All membership levels include free parking for the member’s vehicle and anyone else they bring in their car

 

*All members will receive a the newsletter via email. A paper copy is available for an additional fee of $15, please call us to receive physical copy.

The Friends of Wehr Nature Center presents…The Natural History of Costa Rica

 An eco-tour of the tropical flora, fauna and landscapes of this amazing country!

Tentative 12-Day Travel Window:  December 2-13, 2025


Come to an INTEREST MEETING at Wehr:  Monday, March 24, 6- 8 pm

(This trip is a member benefit-you must be a Friends of Wehr member to pay the deposit)

FEATURING:   1) visits to volcanic national parks of interest (e.g. Arenal NP and Tenorio NP)

                         2) birdwatching, rainforest walks, river boat tours, sustainable farm tours (coffee, chocolate)

                         3) clean hotel accommodations, clean drinking water, great meals, and safe drivers

                         4) daily guiding w/expert Costa Rican naturalists – from the mountains to the Pacific coast

                         5) … plus essential pre-travel ice breaker meetings addressing relevant natural history topics

                              and covering all group travel logistics


 Estimated Trip Cost: $2900 plus round-trip airfare*

 

  (* trip costs will cover all lodging, most meals, all field study activities, all naturalist guide services, all local transportation, and most tips. Round-trip group airfare will be arranged from Milwaukee or Chicago)
