50th Anniversary Community Celebration

Wehr Nature Center is celebrating an exciting milestone in 2024 as it marks 50 years of being A Place for all Seasons, A Place for Everyone.  “Rooted and Growing”, the community is invited to pay tribute to the past and look forward to the bright future of the nature center at this celebratory open house-style event.

You can Expect: 

• Remarks from community leaders including the County Executive, Executive Director of Milwaukee County Parks, Center Director and others paying tribute to Wehr’s past and revealing future plans,
• A commemorative tree planting sponsored by Johnson’s Nursery in partnership with Retzer Nature Center in honor of both center’s 50th anniversaries,
• An accessible self-guided scavenger hunt throughout the preserve to get out and enjoy nature and learn more about the variety of initiatives and programs available to you at Wehr thanks to our partnership with Access Ability Wisconsin (AAW),
• Share your memory at Wehr’s 50th anniversary memory display including photos, milestones, and stories of Wehr’s community impact,
• A youth photo contest, life-size roving animal characters, birthday cake, and more!
